SRINAGAR, June 10: The Administrative Council (AC), chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, approved the submission of the draft Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) Bill, 2024 to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India, for consideration by the Parliament. The meeting was attended by Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor; Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; and Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor.

The proposed Bill stipulates that the Chairperson of the JKSSB will be selected from the IAS cadre, either serving or retired, holding a Super time scale or above. Additionally, it mandates five members from an equivalent grade of special scale or higher, whether serving or retired. The Controller and Secretary positions will require a rank of Special Secretary or higher.

The Bill specifies that the Chairperson and members will serve a term of five years or until they reach the age of 65, whichever comes first, and they will not be eligible for re-appointment.
