Srinagar, Nov 21: Education Minister Sakina Itoo announced on Thursday that government school students will receive free textbooks immediately after their annual exams conclude. She assured that there will be no delays in the distribution process.
Speaking to a news agency, Itoo explained, “After revising the academic session for students up to 9th grade, I have directed the concerned authorities to ensure that textbooks are made available as soon as the exams are finished.”
She further emphasized, “Once the exams are over, we will begin distributing free textbooks to the students without any delays to ensure their education is not affected.”
This comes after years of delays in textbook distribution, which have hindered students' academic progress. In previous years, textbooks were often delivered late, even after the new academic session had already begun. For instance, in 2023, students had to wait nearly two months after the start of the academic year before receiving their textbooks.
The minister has now taken steps to address this issue and ensure that textbooks will be distributed on time, eliminating any disruption to students' studies.
