JKBOSE Seeks Cyber Police Probe into Fake Class 12th Result Website

Srinagar, May 2: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has requested an official investigation into the circulation of a fake Class 12th result gazette that misled students and parents ahead of the official announcement.

According to board officials, an unauthorized website was created by unidentified individuals, falsely claiming that the JKBOSE Class 12th results had been declared. This fake portal, which closely mimicked the official site, began circulating a day before the actual results were released on May 30. Though the student names matched real records, the marks displayed were incorrect, causing widespread confusion and concern.

In response, JKBOSE has written to the Cyber Police Station Kashmir Zone, urging them to identify the source of the fake link and take appropriate legal action against those responsible. The board emphasized that the fraudulent website was the work of hackers and not affiliated with the official result announcement.

The incident sparked protests from students, many of whom were shocked that their personal information had appeared on a fake platform. They demanded clarity on how such sensitive data was accessed.

Joint Secretary Shanaz Chowdhary of JKBOSE confirmed to Greater Kashmir that a formal request has been made to the Cyber Police to investigate the matter, citing the emotional distress and confusion caused by the misinformation.
