Parents Demand Revision in JKBOSE Class 12 Exam Schedule

Srinagar, Oct 13 (Sakib Jkbose): Parents of Class 12 students appearing in the upcoming JKBOSE annual exams have appealed for adjustments in the recently released date sheet, saying the short gaps between key science subjects leave little time for adequate preparation.
Speaking to Greater Kashmir, a group of parents said that science students have just a two-day interval between most major papers, except Chemistry. “This limited gap makes it extremely difficult for students to prepare properly,” said one parent.
She pointed out that subjects like Mathematics have only a two-day gap, while optional or less demanding subjects have more than six days. “Mathematics should have been given a reasonable preparation break,” she added.
The parents urged the Board to reschedule certain papers to balance preparation days, without extending the overall exam duration.
Responding to the issue, JKBOSE Secretary G.H. Sheikh said the date sheet was designed after due consideration and cannot be altered now. “Papers before November 17 have two to three days between them, while exams after that date have longer gaps to align with Class 11 examinations,” Sheikh clarified.
He said students have already completed a full academic session, and the provided intervals are sufficient. “We have also given a 15% syllabus relaxation due to the delayed start of the session,” he noted.
Sheikh added that competitive exams like NEET and JEE demand even tighter schedules, helping students build exam endurance. “We plan to finish Class 12 exams by November, as December weather often disrupts schedules. These factors guided our planning,” he said. (KNO)
