Srinagar, Nov 19 (KNO): With temperatures continuing to dip across Kashmir, Minister Sakina Itoo on Wednesday indicated that winter vacations for students up to Class 8 are likely to start in the first week of December.

While speaking to the media, the minister told Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that parents have been consistently urging the government to declare the winter schedule on time. “The cold weather becomes challenging for younger children, and parents keep requesting an early announcement,” she noted.

Itoo confirmed that a meeting has already been held to review the situation. “We have tentatively decided that classes from 1st to 8th will probably begin their winter break from the first week of December,” she said.

Regarding the issue of textbooks, the minister assured that the situation has improved significantly. “The matter has been streamlined to a large extent,” she stated, adding that instructions have been issued to avoid any shortage of books or uniforms.

She further said that strict directions have been passed on to the JKBOSE Secretary, Chairman, Education Secretary, and other officials to take firm action against private schools that violate government rules. “If we receive any complaint about books, uniforms, or fees, action will definitely be taken,” Itoo warned. —(KNO)
