Srinagar, October 21: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has removed the minimum requirement of securing 20 per cent marks in a subject for applying for re-evaluation of answer scripts, providing relief to students across different examination categories.
As per a notification issued by the Board’s Academic Division on Wednesday, the decision revises the earlier notification dated May 29, 2006, which permitted re-evaluation only in subjects where candidates had obtained at least 20 per cent of the total marks.
Under the revised rules, candidates will now be eligible to apply for re-evaluation irrespective of the marks secured in the subject concerned. However, applicants must comply with the prescribed application procedure, deadline and fee requirements.
The revised provision covers the Secondary School Examination (Class 10th), Higher Secondary Part-I (Class 11th), Higher Secondary Part-II (Class 12th), Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) and Jammu and Kashmir State Open School examinations for Classes 10th and 12th.
JKBOSE has clarified that all other existing rules and conditions related to the re-evaluation process will continue to remain in force.
The notification has been issued by Director Academics Dr Parveen Singh and will be applicable prospectively.
