Govt Orders Regular Exams for Classes 10-12 from February 2025, Summative Assessment for Class 8
New directives aim to restore the traditional November-December academic session
Srinagar, Nov 06 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir government has issued orders to revert to the November-December academic session for classes 10th to 12th, with examinations set to begin in February 2025 and conclude by the end of March.
Additionally, the government has mandated that schools conduct the annual summative assessments for class 8 starting from the 2024-25 academic session and onwards.
According to a report by Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Principal Secretary of the School Education Department, Suresh Kumar Gupta, in an official order, directed the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) to follow the updated schedule for these classes.
Gupta’s order specifies that the traditional November-December academic session will be restored for classes up to 9th grade in the Kashmir region and Jammu's winter zone, starting from the 2024-25 session. Examinations for classes 1 to 9 will be held between November and December 2024.
For classes 10th to 12th, however, the restoration of the November-December academic calendar will only be implemented from the 2025-26 session onwards. For the current academic year, the JKBOSE is instructed to conduct exams for these classes beginning on February 15, 2025, and complete them by March 2025.
Furthermore, the directive states that from the 2024-25 session, schools will be responsible for conducting the annual summative assessments for class 8 students.
