Government School Students to Receive Textbooks Soon: Sakina Itoo

Srinagar, Dec 11 (KNO): Education Minister Sakina Itoo announced on Wednesday that the distribution of textbooks to government school students will begin shortly as the new academic year gets underway.

Speaking to Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Itoo assured that the government is committed to providing textbooks to students as soon as possible. “We are in the process of distributing free textbooks to the students, and the distribution will commence soon,” she said.

Itoo also mentioned that some textbooks are already available in the stores of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE). Officials from JKBOSE further confirmed that textbooks are available in the stores across both Jammu and Kashmir divisions.

"We have placed orders for the printing of books based on requisitions from the respective Chief Education Officers (CEOs)," an official explained. "Some books have already been received, and the distribution process will begin soon."

In recent years, the timely delivery of textbooks to government school students has been a challenge. In 2023, for instance, the distribution was delayed by more than two months, even after the new academic session had started. This delay caused significant disruption for students who rely on these books for their studies.
