Kulgam, July 8: Education Minister Sakina Masood Itoo on Tuesday assured that the recently announced school timings are not permanent and can be changed if required, based on suggestions from students and parents.
While speaking to reporters in Kulgam, Minister Itoo said that reopening schools today was necessary to keep the academic schedule on track and ensure syllabus completion before exams.
“We have resumed classes today, and there have been multiple calls regarding the new school timings,” Itoo stated. “I want to make it clear that these timings are not final. We will review them if there is any need for adjustments. This is not a strict decision.”
She urged parents and students to remain calm. “If students or parents face any problems due to the current timings, changes will be made accordingly. There is no need to worry or feel anxious,” she assured.
Highlighting the upcoming academic targets, the minister said, “Our main concern is the November session. Students should focus on studies so that they are fully prepared for the examinations. The purpose behind all these decisions is to ensure that the syllabus is covered smoothly.”
She further added, “We are already in the middle of July. Only two full months – August and September – remain before exams begin in October. Therefore, our priority is to help students excel and make Jammu & Kashmir proud.”
Her statement comes amid criticism over the change in school timings and the introduction of online classes, as schools across Kashmir reopened today after a 15-day summer break.
