Jammu, Aug 28 (KNC): The Directorate of School Education Jammu has ordered the closure of all private and government schools in Jammu division till August 30, citing continuous heavy rainfall and related disruptions.

According to Director Dr. Naseem Javaid Chowdhary, several districts have reported waterlogging inside school premises, blocked access in low-lying areas, and threats of landslides and shooting stones in hilly regions. Damaged roads have further worsened travel conditions, prompting appeals from parents and civil society for an extended closure.

The order directed schools to explore online classes for senior students where feasible and ensure premises are cleaned and inspected before reopening. It further stressed that institutions must comply with SOPs and coordinate with local authorities prior to resuming offline operations.

Officials added that the situation is under constant review, and fresh advisories will be issued depending on the weather.
