DSEK Makes Aadhaar-Linked VSK Chatbot Attendance Mandatory for Schools in Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 8 (KNC): The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has issued fresh directions to all government and private recognized institutions across the Valley to strictly implement Aadhaar-based VSK chatbot attendance. The department emphasized that the move is vital for fulfilling the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
According to the circular accessed by KNC, NEP 2020 promotes holistic and competency-based education, where consistent classroom participation plays a central role in developing curiosity, creativity, emotional intelligence, ethics, and social skills among learners.
DSEK noted with concern that absenteeism is on the rise, particularly among students of classes 11th and 12th, and the trend is gradually affecting classes 9th and 10th as well. Such irregularity, the department said, hampers meaningful teacher-student interaction, peer learning, and practical engagement.
“All schools must ensure daily attendance through the Aadhaar-enabled VSK chatbot system. Principals are instructed to hold practical sessions in science subjects without fail, as they are an essential part of experiential learning,” the directive read.
The order further called upon heads of institutions and teaching staff to create a vibrant academic environment in line with NEP 2020. DSEK has entrusted Joint Directors, CEOs, Cluster Heads, and ZEOs with the responsibility of monitoring compliance, cautioning that lapses will invite strict disciplinary measures. (KNC)
