In a historic move, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced the largest-ever expansion of MBBS seats for NEET UG 2025. A total of 9,075 new seats have been added, while 456 have been withdrawn, taking the overall count to 1,26,600 seats across 812 medical colleges nationwide.
This major reform aims to enhance access to medical education, particularly benefiting states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. The initiative also emphasizes quality by enforcing stricter standards for faculty, hospital infrastructure, and clinical training.
