Srinagar, Nov 13 (KNO): The School Education Department is planning to announce winter vacations for schools in Kashmir in phases, starting from the first week of December, according to officials.

Sources told Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Education Minister Sakina Itoo, during a recent review meeting, indicated that winter break for primary classes will likely begin in the first week of December, while higher classes up to 12th standard may get holidays from the second week of December.

“The proposed schedule has been set considering the current weather conditions. However, final dates may change depending on further temperature drops,” an official said.

The department also aims to complete around 10% of the new academic syllabus before the vacation begins, as the new session is already underway.

Meanwhile, temperatures across the Valley continue to fall sharply, with Srinagar recording its coldest night of the season at minus 2.1°C on Wednesday. — (KNO)
