Schools Reopen in Kashmir After Over Three-Month Winter Vacation

Sakib

Srinagar, Mar 9 (KNC): All educational institutions across the Kashmir Valley resumed classes on Monday after remaining closed for more than three months due to the winter vacation.

According to details available with news agency Kashmir News Corner (KNC), primary-level classes were initially scheduled to reopen on March 2. However, the reopening was postponed after authorities ordered the closure of all educational institutions across Kashmir as a precaution following protests that broke out after the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Higher secondary schools, along with colleges and universities, also remained shut due to tensions in the Middle East.

Earlier, Education Minister Sakina Itoo stated that the decision to reopen institutions was taken after reviewing the overall situation. She confirmed that all schools, colleges, and universities would resume functioning from Monday, March 9, 2026, enabling students to return to their classrooms after the extended break. (KNC)
