Farooq Abdullah Criticizes NEET 2024 Irregularities as a Crime Against Students
Sakib
Srinagar, June 24: Dr. Farooq Abdullah, President of the National Conference, has strongly condemned the alleged irregularities in the 2024 NEET examination, labeling them a crime against students. He emphasized that students who studied diligently for the exams, rather than purchasing papers, are now unjustly facing difficulties.
"This is a crime committed against students... Many qualified for the exams by studying, not buying papers. Now they are put through trouble again," stated Abdullah.
Acknowledging the complexity of conducting a nationwide exam, Abdullah conceded that organizing a retest is an unfortunate necessity when irregularities are suspected. He remarked, "Conducting an exam all over India is not an easy job, and repeating it is an unfortunate thing."
Dr. Abdullah also extended his congratulations to the newly elected members of the 18th Lok Sabha, expressing his hope that the new parliament would strengthen the nation, uphold democracy and the constitution, and foster unity among diverse communities by addressing the divisions sown during the elections.
The National Testing Agency (NTA), responsible for conducting the NEET-UG exams, has come under heavy criticism due to the alleged irregularities, sparking protests nationwide and calls for the agency's dissolution.
Concerns were heightened by the unprecedented achievement of 67 candidates scoring a perfect 720 out of 720.
In response, the Ministry of Education has established a high-level committee of experts to recommend reforms in the examination process, enhance data security protocols, and review the functioning of the NTA. The committee, led by former ISRO chairman Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, is expected to submit its report within two months.
"In order to ensure transparent, smooth, and fair conduct of examinations through the National Testing Agency (NTA), the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, constituted a High-Level Committee of Experts to make recommendations on reform in the mechanism of examination process improvement in data security protocols and the structure and functioning of the National Testing Agency," the ministry stated. –(ANI)
