Government Retracts 6,000 JKSSB Posts, Promises New Notification by August

Srinagar, June 20: Job seekers in Jammu and Kashmir face further delays as the government has retracted around 6,000 posts referred to the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) for recruitment. This decision impacts multiple departments, including the Home Department, for the fiscal years 2022-2023.
The withdrawn posts encompass approximately 752 police sub-inspectors, 4,000 police constables, 150 junior civil engineers, and 200 electrical engineers, among others. These positions were initially referred to JKSSB without finalizing the new reservation rules.
According to the Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the central government recently introduced a ten percent reservation for the state's hill community. Due to this policy change, the posts were withdrawn to comply with the updated reservation rules. The General Administration Department has directed relevant departments to finalize these rules before resubmitting the posts to JKSSB.
This adjustment is anticipated to take one to two months, with JKSSB expected to release new notifications for these posts after August. JKSSB Chairman Rakesh Sharma confirmed the retraction and indicated that the recruitment process would resume following the establishment of the new reservation rules.
In related news, the recruitment process for Forest Department positions, including Forest Guard and Forester, is slated to begin by the end of July with a physical examination, followed by a written test. Although notifications for these positions were issued in 2022, the recruitment process has yet to commence.
Additionally, the application deadline for District Judge positions has been extended to July 15, as announced by the Additional Registrar Administrative of the Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh High Court. This extension moves the original deadline from June 5, allowing more time for online applications.
