NTA Officials Report: NEET-UG Integrity Maintained Despite 63 Unfair Means Cases

New Delhi, June 12:
NTA officials announced that 63 cases of students using unfair means were reported in NEET-UG, with 23 students debarred for varying periods. However, they emphasized that the exam's integrity remained intact with no paper leak.

The results of 40 students involved in these cases have been withheld, according to NTA DG Subodh Kumar Singh. A committee of three experts reviewed the cases of impersonation, cheating, and OMR sheet tampering, leading to 12 students being debarred for three years, nine for two years, and two for one year.

The NTA faces criticism over alleged irregularities and marks inflation. The Supreme Court is involved, seeking responses on a plea to re-hold the exam due to alleged malpractices.

The Education Ministry has set up a four-member panel to review grace marks given to 1,563 students due to exam delays. The panel's recommendations may result in a retest or other measures to ensure fairness.

Regarding marks inflation, Singh clarified that of the 67 top-ranking candidates, only a few received perfect scores due to answer key revisions and compensations for lost time, with minimal grace marks awarded.
