As NEET UG 2025 kicks off on Sunday, May 4, 51,510 candidates from Jammu and Kashmir are set to appear for the exam across 128 government exam centers. Of these, 107 centers are managed by the J&K government, while 21 are located in central institutes.
According to Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Higher Education Department, Shantmanu, the exam is being conducted in 10 districts—six in Kashmir Division and four in Jammu Division. Authorities have implemented extensive surveillance and logistical arrangements to ensure a transparent and candidate-friendly environment, following NTA guidelines.
The cities of Jammu and Srinagar account for the highest number of centers and candidates. In Srinagar, 15,100 candidates will appear across 36 centers. DC Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, assured that all exam centers meet NTA requirements, including CCTV surveillance, frisking, comfortable seating, and availability of drinking water. He emphasized that the exam is a Paper-Pen Test and reminded candidates to check their admit cards and center details in advance.
In Baramulla, 3,000 aspirants will take the exam in 10 designated centers. Local authorities there have ensured smooth traffic movement, adequate facilities, and strict monitoring through real-time CCTV surveillance.
Shantmanu noted that candidates must report three hours before the exam begins to complete necessary biometric verifications. He extended his best wishes and urged students to be punctual to avoid any last-minute issues.
J&K has a total of 1,347 MBBS seats—100 in private colleges, 62 in AIIMS Jammu, and the rest distributed among Government Medical Colleges. Additionally, there are 229 BDS seats across government and private dental institutions.
Nationally, nearly 23 lakh aspirants have registered for NEET UG 2025, which serves as the sole entrance exam for undergraduate medical courses like MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BUMS, BSMS, and BHMS. Candidates applying for the B.Sc. Nursing course under the Military Nursing Service (MNS) must also qualify through NEET UG, as their scores are used for shortlisting.
