NEET Probe: NMC Cancels 14 Admissions, Suspends 26 MBBS Students for Malpractice

New Delhi, May 3 (PTI)
In a major crackdown on malpractice in medical entrance exams, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has cancelled the admissions of 14 MBBS students and ordered the immediate suspension of 26 others who were found guilty of using unfair means during NEET-UG 2024, according to an official source.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is a nationwide exam for students aspiring to join medical colleges in India.
Following a joint investigation by multiple agencies into the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak, the National Testing Agency (NTA) identified 42 candidates who were involved in malpractice. These students have been debarred from appearing in the exam for three years — 2024, 2025, and 2026. An additional nine candidates were barred from the 2025 and 2026 sessions.
The CBI is leading the investigation, and so far, the candidature of 215 students has been put on hold pending further inquiry.
