Jammu, Jan 29: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has announced a 15% reduction in syllabus for students of Classes 10th, 11th, and 12th appearing in the annual regular examinations of the Summer Zone in Jammu Division. The decision comes in view of the academic disruptions caused by prolonged bad weather and last year’s war-like situation.
Education Minister Sakeena Itoo said the move was taken after carefully considering the challenges faced by students, along with feedback from parents and other stakeholders. She stated that the department reviewed all concerns before finalizing the relief measures.
She added that the August floods had significantly disturbed normal school activities, affecting syllabus completion. The relaxation, she said, aims to ensure fairness and prevent Summer Zone students from facing any academic disadvantage.
The Minister reiterated the Government’s commitment to strengthening school infrastructure and improving the overall academic environment in public institutions. She noted that recent Class 10th and 12th results from Kashmir and winter zone areas show steady progress in government schools.
Emphasizing student welfare, Itoo said the Government is working to create better learning conditions and transform schools into centers of academic excellence. She added that the long-term goal is to build a knowledge-based economy by equipping students with modern education and vocational skills, alongside upgrading teaching standards and facilities.
She extended her best wishes to students and advised them to prepare diligently for the upcoming exams, scheduled from February 17 for Class 10, February 23 for Class 12, and February 28 for Class 11.
