Sakib
Bhubaneswar, Jan 22: The board exams for Class 10 and Class 12 students will continue as scheduled, with no changes, as per the new National Education Policy (NEP), confirmed Dinesh Saklani, Director of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), on Tuesday.
Saklani assured that there was no need for confusion regarding the board exams, as the policy explicitly states that they will remain unchanged. He emphasized, "The board exams will proceed as usual," according to Odisha TV.
For students in Class 5 and Class 8, the exams are designed to prepare them for the transition to higher levels of education. Saklani also mentioned that those who do not perform well in these exams would be given a second opportunity, reflecting the NEP's flexible approach to student development.
Furthermore, Saklani provided details about the 5 3 3 4 structure in education under the NEP, which divides secondary education into two phases—Grades 9 and 10 in the first phase, and Grade 12 in the second.
In Odisha, a three-day National Workshop on NEP 2020 implementation was conducted, where the Union Education Minister unveiled the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), aimed at transforming the country’s education system.
