Srinagar, Feb 15: In response to concerns raised over the denial of exam registration forms for 22 10th-grade students, the government announced that it will ensure no student’s academic year is wasted.

In an exclusive statement to Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Education Minister Sakina Itoo assured that the government would not allow any academic year to be compromised. She emphasized, "The academic year is crucial, and the government will not let it go to waste due to any issues caused by the school management."

Itoo added, “I will hold a significant meeting tomorrow regarding the denial of registration for students at Islamic Global School in Srinagar. I will make sure that these students’ educational progress is not hampered by the school’s mistake.”

The Minister also made it clear that the government would take strict action against private schools putting students' futures at risk.

Meanwhile, the Srinagar Court has directed the Chairman and Joint Secretary (General) of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) to ensure that the students from Islamic Global School are allowed to appear in the 10th grade annual exams.

The President of the Private School Association of Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK), G N Var, claimed, “JKBOSE seems to be targeting Islamic Global School, but several other schools are facing similar issues.”

Peoples Conference leader, Sajad Lone, expressed his concerns on the micro-blogging site X, stating, “What arrogance? Why can’t the government facilitate the implementation of a court order? These children should be allowed to sit for their exams. Are they being punished for seeking justice through the court? It’s a common problem for those in power.”

Director of School Education Kashmir, G N Itoo, told KNO, “The issue has been resolved thanks to the intervention of the Education Minister. The decision ensures that the academic year of the students is protected.” However, he confirmed that strict action would be taken against the school for breaching norms.
