Srinagar, June 20 – Amid an ongoing heatwave, Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Friday hinted at the possibility of announcing an early summer vacation for schools in Kashmir, potentially before July.
Speaking to the media, Itoo said that school timings have already been adjusted to help students cope with the intense heat. “We are also considering an early summer break, as students are facing difficulties due to the heatwave,” she said.
On Thursday, the minister had mentioned the likelihood of a 10-day summer vacation starting July 1. “Depending on how the weather develops, we may extend the break,” she added.
According to the local meteorological department, Srinagar experienced its hottest day of the season on Thursday, with temperatures reaching 35.2°C.
