No Final Call Yet on School Vacation Extension, Decision Expected Tomorrow After Weather Review

Srinagar, July 6 (JKNS): With temperatures remaining high, the Jammu and Kashmir administration is closely monitoring the weather and is expected to take a decision on extending school vacations on Monday after reviewing the conditions.

A senior government official informed JKNS that no final decision has been made so far. However, the weather forecast suggests a significant possibility of rainfall starting tonight and continuing over the next two days, which may help bring down temperatures.

"According to the weather reports, there is a strong likelihood of rain tonight, tomorrow, and the day after. This is a positive indication," the official said.

He added, “We are keeping a close watch on the situation. A final call on vacation extension will be taken tomorrow after assessing the actual weather conditions.”

At present, summer vacations for government and private schools in the Kashmir division are set to end on Monday, July 7, with classes resuming on Tuesday, July 8.

This clarification comes amid rising appeals from parents, teachers, and students seeking an extension of the break due to intense heat, especially during nights. Meanwhile, the Private Schools Association of Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK) has suggested revising school timings instead of prolonging holidays.

Additionally, the Meteorological Department has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall across many parts of Jammu and Kashmir between July 6 and 8, which is expected to provide relief from the ongoing heatwave. (JKNS)
